If the concept of Christian hard rock seems about
as valid to you as a porno movie where everyone just shakes hands and hugs
for 90 minutes, you haven’t heard Armor of God. We welcome your coverage
of 2 Face Reality, this Alabama based trios’ remarkable debut.
Sure, this is Christian metal, but you’ll be hooked long before noticing
anything other than what a progressive, passionate rock record this band
has recorded. All great insurgent Rock & Roll uses essentially prayerful
metaphors, and Armor of God simply reverse the usual relation: here are
eleven powerful songs of life, faith, love and even topical subjects like
the aftermath of September 11th (“Mountain of Thorns”). It’s
melodic, progressive metal with Kevin McElyea’s alternately souring/shredding/
chugging guitar riffs, David Worsham’s off-the-hook drumming and Donna
Worsham’s beguiling vocals that recall 70’s rock diva, Ann Wilson.
From the majestic, anthemic rhythm of the title track to the gorgeous piano
ballad “I’ll Be with You,” Armor of God’s 2 Face
Reality, will also appeal to secular fans of classic hard rock/metal groups
like Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Dokken, Heart and anyone who used to
stay up late to watch Headbanger’s Ball on MTV.
Cast aside your visions of Stryper’s yellow and black spandex tights and let Armor of God rock you. I look forward to hearing your feedback and discussing media coverage for this talented band.
