I do a good job of keeping this on the downlow, but I am actually completely gay for singer George Michael. So it was a thrill for me to be able to attend George’s show last night at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where Geoffrey and I found ourselves about six feet from the stage. Insanely gay!

George’s current tour features an out of control light and stage show, the star of which is the award winning, state-of-the art LED video screen designed and developed specifically for George Michael’s 25 Live tour. I am not fronting when I say that George’s show was so mind-blowingly psychedelic that, by comparison, it made Pink Floyd’s laser light spectacular look like Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree before the Holiday Spirit brought it to life.

The stage is also unique in that George’s fifteen-piece band performs behind him on a three-tier stage that looks a lot like the set of The Hollywood Squares. I’ve never seen anything like it. George played for 3 hours with a 20 minute intermission at the one hour mark, so you can absolutely say that the tickets are worth whatever you have to pay for them, or whatever sexual favors you must provide in trade.

After the show, Geoffrey and I took our excited little asses backstage, where Geoffrey turned into a little girl and completely lost his mind after talking to George for five seconds. It was really quite adorable. I was also able to hang out with George’s drummer, Carlos Hercules, who had gotten us the sweet list action – thanks Carlos!

And we both had our photos snapped with actor Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, How I Met Your Mother), who seems like a very sweet and hilarious person. All in all, an excellent night out in the city!

Prince Nuada - That’s Hot!

OK, so it’s obviously not that big of a secret when it took me exactly one second on the Google to find out that actor Luke Goss, who plays the very evil and very extremely sexy villain, Prince Nuada in the new movie Hellboy II (which is fantastic, BTW) was formerly a member of the ‘80s British Boy Band, Bros with his identical twin brother, Matt! This is just too insane!

If you’re as much of a cute-boy-obsessed music nerd as me (and I’m guessing that you’re probably not) then you might recall Bros’ uber-gay, popular- in-the -UK-only hit from 1987, “When Will I Be Famous?” – a song so twee it makes the Backstreet Boys’ hit, “I Want It That Way” sound like “Stairway to Heaven.” Weee! Well, I gotta say that Luke has grown up to be a total babe and a terrific actor. I recommend that you go see Hellboy II right away (lines are way shorter than for The Dark Knight) because it will knock your socks off. And, like I said, Goss’s Prince Nuada is just smokin’ hot!

Brett Michaels: Still Looking for Love

Surely no one who has seen either season of VH1’s Rock Of Love will be too surprised to hear the news that Poison Front Man / Reality Show Whore Brett Michaels and his latest “True Love,” Ambre Lake have broken up. Shocking! My take on Rock Of Love is that it operates along the lines of these various wars (Vietnam, Iraq) our Government gets us into so that Oil Barons and Foreign Banks can augment their wealth: It’s not so much a battle that can be won as it is an effort that needs to be maintained so that people behind the scenes can stuff their pockets with cash. Brett Michaels is a washed-up, borderline retarded, wig-wearing ‘80s Rock Star /Botox Junkie. If he was really looking for a girlfriend he could find one in two seconds. But then VH1 would lose out on all those ratings, and I wouldn’t have anything to watch at 9:00 PM on Sunday nights. And that would just be sad. According to the link above, this upcoming season takes place in Brett’s natural habitat: a gross, skank-ridden tour bus! YAY! Let the rampant tits-flashing and BJ-giving begin!

I Would Eat It

The Donut Burger is not a myth or culinary legend. Originally invented by the late R&B singer, Luther Vandross when he ran out of hamburger buns and instead placed his delicious meaty burger between two glazed donuts, the donut burger and its assorted variations, such as the Bacon and Egg Brunch Burger really do exist. Imagine how much more popular, controversial (and deadly) McDonald’s would be if only they dared to add a McDonut Burger to their morning breakfast menu? Mmmm…so tasty!

My very favorite story about the band Radiohead concerns the time (a few years ago, now) that I emailed their publicist to request a review copy of the band’s new CD. This is a common practice between writers and publicists which shouldn’t have met with any reaction other than, “Sure, what address do we send it to?” But that’s not what happened. Not only did they refuse to send me the disc, they also had the King Kong-sized balls to suggest that I (exact quote) “go buy a copy and help the band sell some records.” Un-fucking-believable. After that exchange, I vowed that I would never never ever ever buy or review a Radiohead CD or support the band in any way. So far, I’ve kept that vow. And it hasn’t exactly been difficult to do, because around the middle of 2001, Radiohead really started to suck wildly.

I have a weird relationship, or non-relationship, with Radiohead. While I sincerely appreciate its unfailing willingness to work ridiculously far “outside the box,” it’s my opinion that many of these outside-the-box efforts in the recording studio have produced what is quite possibly some of the worst music ever created in the universe of all time. The bands first two records, Pablo Honey and The Bends, I have no problem with those records. Radiohead’s critical breakthrough, OK Computer, while a bit more of a challenging listen, contains endless moments of inspired genius. Its follow up album, Kid A has exactly two songs worth listening to (“Optimistic” and “Everything in Its Right place”). Amnesiac didn’t even make a blip on my radar and Hail to the Thief is a piece of unlistenable crap. Yawn.

So, today I got turned on to the video clip for “House of Cards” from Radiohead’s newest CD, In Rainbows. Wow! Color me so very surprised! Not only is “House of Cards” a really good song, it also has a clever video of low-key but impressively hypnotic images. Welcome back to the realm of non-suckitude, guys! There’s a good story about how this video was made, but I don’t feel like going into it here. That’s what the Google is for.

Sad Clowns

It’s no secret that I’m a serious romantic sap-a-holic: all “in love with love” and shit like that. It’s pretty ridiculous. So I am understandably beyond devastated and completely inconsolable, having just heard the news that one of my favorite show biz couples, Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, have broken up. Man, this is a drag. They looked so cute together and they were both politically incorrect comedians! How can you not make that work? Maybe the break-up had something to do with the fact that Jimmy was Fucking Ben Affleck.
