The best part was, it started POURING rain when I took that photo (with my hand)… he was super cool and I’m sure our paths are gonna cross again (and with you there next time!)

I went to check out artist Shepard Fairey’s new mural on Bowery on April 22, 2010 and I had a chance encounter with Mr. Fairey himself! It was a gorgeous sunny spring New York day and all of a sudden, a swarm of black clouds rolled in and it started pouring rain. Shepard Fairey was putting the finishing touches on his May Day mural to celebrate his next art show which will be held at Deitch Projects in May. In the rain, Shepard was cool enough to pose for a picture with me and I am very grateful! I literally stood in the rain for 20 minutes admiring the really cool mural (pictures after the jump) and then he came back and allowed me to take a brief video of him doing some finishing touches on it! Wow! Thanks so much for being so cool! In the off chance you don’t know his work, he designed the world famous “Obama Hope” poster and he is currently starring in “Exit Through The Gift Shop,” next year’s Oscar winner for Best Documentary and one of the best art films of all time! Thanks again Shepard!!!! This picture has already become so infamous, it’s already showed up on one of the coolest blogs of all time, The Worley Gig. [...]
